Like many parents, I'm concerned about my kids not spending too much time in front of a screen. Whether that screen is television, computer, or video games matters little. One reason for this is because I have seen how screen time interferes with other, more important activities. Activities like reading, spending time with family, helping around the house, even daydreaming.
It seems that boys in particular have a hard time accepting limits around video gaming and computer time. Since I have two sons, I didn't want any part of the constant fighting over the video game system between themselves and refusing to accept boundaries and limits that I see in other families. I've also observed kids missing a lot of sleep and even social interaction with peers because of spending too much in an artificial world, with detrimental effects both short and long term.
Video Games and Your Kids gathers much of the current research, science and data about why parents should be concerned about their kids spending excessive time playing video (and computer) games. Rather than being the greatest invention since the baby wipe, video games aren't always just harmless fun.
For one, video games are highly addictive. In fact they are designed to be so - marketers call it the "sticky factor". The longer the child plays, the better in their estimation. Another reason they are addictive is because of the fast moving images on the screen and the way they stimulate the brain. This sounds like a benefit but it is not. It leads to the child having difficulty with other types of learning - the kind that comes from listening and discussing and solving problems that take more time.
Secondly, video games have negative effects on the body and the brain - not only do video games contribute to a sedentary lifestyle (possibly contributing to childhood obesity) but they also retrain the brain and the way it thinks. This has deleterious effects on how a child learns and their ability to learn outside the game.
Parents sometimes believe that video and computer games are "educational" but the evidence does not support that assessment. In fact, some studies point to the opposite effect and have shown a correlation between computer games and decreased vocabulary.
Video games can also lead to a reduced attention span and reduced ability to deal appropriately in social situations. Video games can also lead to eye and vision problems, headaches, sleeping difficulties, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Kids who spend a lot of time gaming even develop poor posture and shallow breathing.
Interestingly, the authors aren't totally opposed to video games but remind parents that they must be very careful about their use. This book is helpful to a parent as it gives us research to back up those gut feelings we have. Allowing a child to have unrestricted access to video games is a bad thing. It also gives you some pointers from these experts on how to spot video game addiction and how to get help for your child - and even yourself or a spouse if you are the ones with a problem.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today called the Sukma Naxal attack , in which 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed, a 'cold blooded murder'.
"This is a cold blooded murder. The sacrifice of our jawans will no go in vain. Attempts are being made to derail the development porcess in the region," Rajnath Singh, who was in Raipur to pay homage to the killed CRPF jawans, said.
Rajnath Singh said the government is planning to revise its Left Wing Extremism (LWE) strategy.
"We have decided to revise our LWE strategy if need be. Have called a meeting of officials of various state governments on May 8," the home minister said.
Singh arrived in Raipur at around 10.30 am and went directly to the headquarters of the 4th battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Mana camp area where the wreath-laying ceremony was held.

Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon, Chief Minister 
Raman Singh, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir and senior state and paramilitary officials were also present on the occasion.

Narendra Modi condemned the attack last night and offered condolences to the families of the deceased, saying the sacrifice of the brave soldiers would not be in vain.

At least 25 CRPF personnel were killed and seven wounded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, the deadliest ambush by Naxalites of security forces in last seven years.

The nearly 100-strong CRPF patrol providing security for road construction work came under fierce gunfire from Maoist guerrillas occupying vantage positions, inflicting heavy casualties on the personnel.
The Naxalites mounted the assault in Kalapathar area of south Bastar region, one of the worst-hit by Left-wing extremism in the country.

ਐਂਡਰੀਆ ਹਾਰਵਥ ਦੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੋਚਣੀ 2014 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਘੱਟ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਮਰੱਥਨ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਰਾਹ ਖੋਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਐਨ ਡੀ ਪੀ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸੀਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਸੀ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮਰੱਥਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਐਂਡਰੀਆ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ ਆਖਰੀ ਵਕਤ ਤੱਕ ਮਨਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਬਹੁ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੁਣ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਡੋਰ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਐਂਡਰੀਆ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਹਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਐਨ ਡੀ ਪੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਵਾ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਜਿੱਡੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਆਗੂ ਪੈਟਰਿਕ ਬਰਾਊਨ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ ਡੀ ਪੀ ਦੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਲੀਡਰ ਜਗਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਜਰੂਰ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਪੈਟਰਿਕ ਬਰਾਊਨ ਲਈ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਲਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਜਲਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਵਿੰਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਵਾਅਦਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਕਾਇਦਾ ਪਲਾਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰੇ। ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਉੱਨਾ ਹੀ 2018 ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਅਵੇਸਲਾ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਐਂਡਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਅਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਟਾਰਾ ਖੋਲਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਟਰਿਕ ਬਰਾਊਨ ਦਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪੈਟਰਿਕ ਕੋਲ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਾਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਓਨਟਾਰੀਓ, 24 ਅਪਰੈਲ (ਪੋਸਟ ਬਿਊਰੋ) : ਇੱਕ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾ ਬੱਚੀ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇੱਕ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਫਾਇਰਫਾਈਟਰ ਤੇ ਲਾਇਸੰਸਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਈਐਮਟੀ ਨੇ ਫੌਰਨ ਬੱਚੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸਿ਼ਸ਼ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੈਰੀਸਨ, ਆਰਕਾਂਸਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਈਵੇਅ 65 ਉੱਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਰਿਆਨ ਸਿਆਮਪੋਲੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਡੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੱਡੀ ਦੇ ਡੈਸ਼ਕੈਮ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵੇਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਹੀ ਬੱਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਛਲਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਤੇ ਬੱਚੀ ਨੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਉਸ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗੀ।
ਸਿਆਮਪੋਲੀ ਨੇ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਜੀਬ ਘਟਨਾ ਸੀ। ਇੱਕ ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚੀ ਬੱਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਹੀ ਪਲ ਉਹ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਗਈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਕੁੱਝ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਬੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੁਕੀ ਤੇ ਬੱਚੀ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਤ ਪਈ ਰਹੀ। ਸਿਆਮਪੋਲੀ ਨੇ ਫੌਰਨ ਹਰਕਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਬੱਚੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਦਾ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਬੱਚੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਖਤਰਾ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਬੱਚੀ ਹਾਈਵੇਅ ਦੇ ਐਨ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਪਈ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕ੍ਰਾਅਫੋਰਡ ਕਾਊਂਟੀ ਦੇ ਫਾਇਰਫਾਈਟਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਬੱਚੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਬੇਸੁੱਧ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉੱਠ ਬੈਠੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਹਿਲਾਈ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੱਚੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਸੱਟ ਵਗੈਰਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ। ਈਐਮਟੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਲੜਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਟਰੱਕ ਬੈੱਡ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਆਇਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਪੈਰਾਮੈਡਿਕਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੜਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸਿ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਪੰਜ ਮਿੰਟ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੈਰਾਮੈਡਿਕਸ ਆ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾ ਬੱਚੀ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਲੜਕੀ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੇਟੀ ਦਾ ਜਬ੍ਹਾੜਾ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਲੜਕੀ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬੱਸ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਘਟਨਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਲਈ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੱਚੀ ਦੇ ਜਲਦ ਸਿਹਤਯਾਬ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਬੱਚੀ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਡਿੱਗੀ।

28 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਮੋੜ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੁੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੂਨੀਅਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਲਾਸ਼ੇਰੀ ਦੇਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਅਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਈ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦਮ ਕਦਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਗੂਣਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਐਨਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਮੌਕੇ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਗੰਵਾਰ ਕਮਿਉਨਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਗੰਵਾਰ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ’ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੌੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਧੱਕਾ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਵੀ ਹੰਢਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਜੁਆਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਹੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ‘ਪਾਕੀ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਟੈਕਸੀ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮਿਉਨਿਟੀ’ ਚੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਸੰਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਕਮੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਅਵਸਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਆਮ ਗੱਲ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਹਰ ਪੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸੀਨੀਅਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੇਬਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਆਚੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਕੋਲ ਹੁਣ 35 ਦਿਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਹ ਪੀਲ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਕੋਲ ਇਸ ਜਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਏ ਧੱਕੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਪੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗਾ। ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੋਲ ਕੇਸ ਦਰਜ਼ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇ ਜੀ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਵਕੀਲ ਕੈਲ ਬਰਾਇਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਧੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਢੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਣ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਕੈਲ ਬਰਾਇਨ ਦਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੱਚ ਹੋ ਨਿੱਬੜਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਹਿੰਮਤ, ਦਲੇਰੀ, ਧੀਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਮੰਜਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਸਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਿਰੜੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਾਬਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਹੰਢਾਉਣਾ ਪਿਆ। ਦੂਜਾ ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਇਸ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫਾਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਬੇਟਾ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਦੇ ਅੜਿੱਕੇ ਚੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਦਾਦ ਦੇਣੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਅਤੀਅੰਤ ਕੌੜੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੀ ‘ਪੁੱਤਰ ਧਰਮ’ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ 2200 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਨਫ਼ਰੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਫੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਡਾਢਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਥਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਸਨਾਫ਼ ਦੀ ਗੁਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਧਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਤੈਅ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਜਰੂਰ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੀਲ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੇ ਐਥਨਿਕ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਰਜੈਂਟ ਬੀ ਜੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਜੱਗੇ ਜੱਟ’ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਵਾਗੂੰ ਦੰਦ ਕਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਸੰਧੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੜੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੌੜੀ ਜੰਗ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਐਥਨਿਕ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜੁਬਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਲੇ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਣੇ ਵੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਹਨ।
ਬਲਜੀਵਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੋ ਨਿਬੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦਾ ਜਾਮਾ ਪਹਿਨਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਸਨੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਬਲਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੀ ਕੁੱਝ ਸਾਰਥਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਤਾਰੀਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਲੇ ਕਾਰੇ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਬਾਵਰਦੀ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ‘ਸਟੇਨਗੰਨ’ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੇਸ਼ੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਲੇਕਿਨ ਇਹ ਵਰਦੀਧਾਰੀ ਪਬਲਿਕ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਹਬ ਠਾਠ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਸੰਧੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹ ਤ੍ਰਬਕਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
ਖੈਰ, ‘ਜਿਨ ਸੱਚ ਪੱਲੇ ਹੋਇ’ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਰੋਲ ਅਦਾ ਕਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਸੰਧੂ ਦਾ ਕੇਸ ਜਿੱਤਣਾ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਤਾਂ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਹੀ ਪਰ ਜੰਗ ਵਰਗੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਤਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਮੁਮਕਿਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਧੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੱਕ ਸੱਚ ਲਈ ਲੜੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਕੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਿਉਨਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਰਦਾਰ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨੀਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਨਪਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਈ ਕਰੇ। ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਬੈਠਾ ਸਕੂਨ ਜਰੂਰ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਸੰਧੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੈ।
