Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad, who misbehaved with an Air India staffer on Thursday, had to go back to his hometown Osmanabad after party chief Uddhav Thackeray asked him not to come to Mumbai in the wake of the media scrutiny that he's under following the incident.
Gaikwad was forced to board a Mumbai-bound train from Delhi on Friday evening when most of the airlines denied him a ticket.
THE STORY SO FAR
He boarded the August Kranti Express from Delhi and was about to come to Mumbai and meet party chief Uddhav Thackeray to explain his stand.
But as journalists kept following Gaikwad continuously at every station where the train stopped after leaving Delhi, the Sena MP got a message from Uddhav asking him not to come to Mumbai, prompting him to go to his hometown Osmanabad instead.
Passengers, who were travelling in the same compartment of the Delhi-Mumbai August Kranti Express as Gaikwad, said that the MP got down at Vapi from the train in the wee hours on Saturday.
According to his co-passengers, Gaikwad got down at Vapi station in Gujarat.
Speaking to India Today, Gaikwad confirmed, "I am not meeting Uddhavji today. Uddhavji has asked me not to come in front of the media so I am on my way back to Osmanabad. The party chief is the only authority and I am waiting for his call."
The Delhi Crime Branch has taken over the investigation now against the Sena MP.
So far, the party has not taken any disciplinary action against Gaikwad. It remains to be seen whether Uddhav Thackeray will.
